5 WAYS YOUR GROUP CAN HELP

Organize a FosterCare Package Drive

Your group can commit to a certain number of care packages or have a competition to see who can fill the most bags.

This is perfect for schools, churches, small groups, youth groups, sports teams, etc. Choose a specific age (0-18) and gender to fill a bag for. We collect new items only, ideally, shoppers would buy things they would want and use for themselves or their children. Most care packages cost between $150-$200.

Each care package should have the following:

  • Duffel Bag, Backpack, or Diaper Bag for Babies

  • Two unique outfits (shirt/bottoms)

  • Two unique pairs of pajamas

  • Pack of underwear or diapers & socks

  • Shampoo & Body Wash

  • Toothbrush & Toothpaste (age appropriate)

  • Water Bottle / Sippy Cup / Baby Bottle

  • Favorite book  (age appropriate)

  • Journal (age appropriate)

  • Gift: like a toy, fun craft, game, fidget, etc (age appropriate)

Host a Meal Prep Night

Foster the Family provides a home-cooked meal to foster families on the night of welcoming a new foster child.

- Gather your group for a night to prep, fully cook, and package to freeze several meals for our families

- Follow our guidelines found below for an easy “how to”

Meals should be prepared to be packaged in the freezer in a disposable bakeware dish, sealed in plastic wrap, then covered with aluminum foil, to guard against freezer burn. Please label the dish(es) with the ingredients (this helps with food sensitivities/restrictions), heating/baking instructions, on an index card and place the date the preparations took place on a removable sticky note. Then, place the index card into a ziplock baggie and tape it to the top of the dish.

Meal Suggestions:

  1. Baked Ziti with or without meat

  2. Lasagne with or without meat

  3. Chili w/rice

  4. Macaroni and Cheese

  5. Soups (Hearty Vegetable, Chicken soup, Minestrone)

  6. French Toast Casserole

  7. Chicken Enchiladas

  8. Chicken & Dumplings or Chicken Pot Pie

  9. Shepherd’s Pie

  10.  Meatballs w/ side of pasta
